It looks like the time has finally come to replace the shower heads in my house and it has meant researching the various brands that are currently available on the market today. The one we currently have has not been functioning properly and I don’t want to waste any more time trying to fix it when I can invest in a new one and be done with this problem forever.
Where have I gone to find the best shower heads available today? Well, the good news is that there are literally scores of places online where one can go and get information on shower heads and I spent my fair share of time on several of them. Since I had some specific brands in mind, I also wanted to see the top handheld shower head reviews in order to get a better picture of what there was to offer. Knowledge is power and now I have a good idea of the type that I want to invest in.
What is a high-pressure shower head, you may ask? Well, its main purpose is intensifying water pressure of the shower for a more pleasurable showering experience. It compares to what you would get at an exclusive spa, so many people prefer them as they soothe sore muscles, make you feel so much cleaner faster, plus you save money. By adding additional water pressure with fewer holes, you are not complicating your pipes, but you are conserving a ton of water.
Plus, they come with various spray patterns that can range from soothing mist mode to even a therapeutic massage for a spa experience in the privacy of your home. The most important part for me is conserving additional water and leaving less of a carbon footprint on the environment. The following are a few of the brands that I discovered that definitely make the grade in every way.
A-Flow – 5
This model is made of plastic and features chrome plating, meaning that water won’t leave permanent stains afterward. Available in chrome color, and sized at 6.7 x 6.6 inches, there is also a swivel ball with this model that allows you to angle the shower head as you wish. Plus, it is made in America and is affordably priced. You get five modes with this shower head, which include Mist, Massage, Pause, Aeration, and Rain spray modes. Simply turn the shower dial and then pick what you want. What I like about this version is that the radius on the shower head is wider than most of the competition at six inches wide, with a higher pressure for a more intensive shower spray. My personal favorite mode is the massage one as it is great after a long day of work.
Vida Alegria 2.5GPM 5″
Similar to the A-Flow, this one also features chrome plating and ABS plastic that won’t stain, with silicone jets that are simple to clean with the swipe of a finger. There is also a brass connector to flow restrictor and water supply. Five modes also come with this spray, which includes Pressure Drench, Power Massage, Relaxing Rain, 2 Mixes, and Drizzle. This is similar to its competitors but this one comes with a water-saving option as well, so you can save water even in boats and RVs. These are quite specific, of course, but you can use any setting that you want to conserve water.
Other things to note on this shower head is its ball joint made of solid brass – since most are made of plastic, this is already an upgrade compared to the competition and it means you get a water-tight seal and also a solid attachment of joint to the shower arm made of metal. That means you can tighten and not have to worry about breaking or cracking, which cannot be said of other models made of ball joints that are typically brittle. Plus, with its high pressure and flow restrictor that can be removed with ease, you can adjust the intensity of the spray as preferred. Simply take out and your spray power goes up. This is an affordable option that works for just about any household and I highly recommend it.
